Considering the total indifference of all members of the Dusi family tree, and considering the fact that the tree will have no one to maintain it, I have removed the tree from the web. A precious heritage, created with over ten years' of effort, has been lost forever. 2011-04-28

Namastey -- Meet the Dusi family

You are seeing an important document: our family tree. It is the "tree" of persons belonging to a family, whose ancestors lived in a village called DUSI (see left side bottom corner of the map). This tiny village is in Tamilnadu, in India, on the banks of Palaar (River of Milk), not far (about 10 km) from the sacred town of Kanjeevaram (or Kanchipuram), and is about 70 km from Madras (or Chennai), in Tamilnadu State, South India. If you have a sufficiently detailed map, you will find Dusi at the following latitude/longitude: 12° 47' N and 79° 40' E

The Dusi family was a traditional, orthodox, Hindu, Vaishnava family (see their holy emblem depicted above), and followers of the "Ahobila Matam". They belong to the vadagalai Iyengar sect of Brahmins.

This document is dedicated to the memory of my grandmother, Smt. Rukmini ammaal (wife of RAN1902MX) whose photographic memory, was a miracle which many of us have seen and admired.
She died in Madras in May 2000, at the age of 92.

About this "tree"

This tree covers only those persons who were "born in the family" (including adoption as children). In other words, details of those who belong to the family, by virtue of marriage, or any other lien, are not included. However, only the names of spouses are included ((in double brackets like this)).

A person (except, of course for the person at the "summit" of the tree) can be a member of this tree, if and only if, at least one of his/ her parents (father or mother) is a member of this tree.

It is therefore a tree containing information on parents, children, and siblings only. Because of this property, it is also a pedigree tree. This type of trees is very useful for sociological studies, for establishing blood relationships (consanguinity), and for deriving a host of other information.

This document covers, four generations above me (my father, my grandfather, my grandfather's father, and my grandfather's grandfather) and two generation below me (my son's PAR1981MX generation, and his daughter's SAM2011FX generation). That means, it covers 4 + 1 + 2 = 7 seven generations !

This tree project was started by me, in the year 1996, using the encyclopedic knowledge of Smt. Rukmini (wife of RAN1902MX). At that time, she was the oldest living person in this family. She was assisted by her second son : Shri. D. R. Varadarajan (the next senior most person in this family).

Incidentally, I, the creator of this tree, and grandson of Smt. Rukmini ammaal (wife of RAN1902MX), am the senior most in the next generation. In other words, the senior most persons of three successive generations, have put in their efforts to create this list. It took us about ten years to collect all the data and ceate the list which was then put up on the web by me (PAR1950MX).
